Benefits of a Combined Yoga Practice and Massage Therapy:
Yoga and massage both promote overall health and well-being with many benefits that overlap. Combined, yoga and massage increase the overall quality of life for an individual. Stress reduction, increased flexibility, pain reduction, and better physical fitness are only a few of the many benefits of combined yoga and massage.
Yoga’s gentle and quiet nature removes the individual from stressful events and situations allowing him/her to focus on the positive aspects of life. As a person is massaged in a quiet, peaceful atmosphere, they tend to forget about stress in their lives and fall into that wonderful “zone” of total relaxation. Yoga and massage benefit the body as well as the mind. Yoga involves stretching muscles, fascia, and tendons thereby improving flexibility. Massage increases blood flow to the muscles, tendons, and joints which reduces stiffness and allows a person to stretch further with less chance of injury. Massage therapy releases endorphins which decrease pain and causes a happy feeling. Massage also assists in removal of waste products in the muscles that cause pain. Yoga relaxes the muscles also resulting in pain reduction. While yoga increases range of motion, balance and strength, which are essential for fitness, massage breaks down scar tissue and sends vital nutrients to the muscles; making it easier to exercise longer and harder and to increase physical fitness.
A perfect equation: yoga + massage = a better quality of life!

ACUPUNCTURE at Simply Yoga
Here at Simply Yoga, you have access to Greg Curtiss for both private sessions and Community Acupuncture. In a private session you can address any health or personal growth issues. It typically lasts from 40 to 60 minutes.Therapy may include acupuncture, herbal and nutritional consultation, medical qigong (energy work) and tuina (bodywork), and lifestyle counseling. The investment is $35 per 20 minutes with reduced rates available for multiple or longer sessions. With a private treatment, you have the opportunity to receive more personalized attention. In contrast, Community Acupuncture provides you an affordable and yet still effective way to receive the profound benefits of regular acupuncture care. In this approach, clients remain fully clothed and recline comfortably in a zero-gravity chair during treatment. A session lasts from 40 to 60 minutes and the price is right … anywhere from $20-$50. Because of the lower investment required you have the opportunity to receive more regular treatment. Many folks come two or three times a week for a number of weeks to help improve their condition and well-being. Community Acupuncture is especially helpful for addictions, such as smoking, drinking and overeating and for stress reduction, thereby helping to manage many stress-related diseases and conditions. Either way you look at it, Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine are wonderful adjuncts to a healthy yoga lifestyle for you and all those you care about.
